LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Louisville man says he stared death in the face and had no choice but to defend himself.
"When I looked him in the eye, I knew I was going to die," said Billy Jackson. "The weapon was there and it was a large weapon."
Jackson, 70, said he and his wife were fixing up a rental property on West Broadway Tuesday afternoon when two armed men forced their way inside. Jackson said he faked a heart attack, fell to the floor, then kicked one of the attackers before shooting them.
Both suspects, Dazmond Turner and Earl Springer, were killed.
"For sure, there's not a doubt in my mind that my wife and I would be dead if I didn't do what I did, and I would do the same thing all over again," Jackson said.
