A high school teacher has been removed from the classroom and is under investigation after a student reported to police that the teacher grabbed him by the neck and pinned him on top of a desk.
The incident allegedly took place at Forrest High School and was caught on camera.
Ninth-grader Clyde Wilson said his math teacher thought that he hit him in the head with a ruler and got upset. He said the teacher lunged at him and grabbed him by the neck.
"He put me on the desk, and I was trying to lift his hands off. He asked me if I was done, and I said, 'Yeah,' and he let go. He let me up once, and I tried to pull away and he pulled me back and asked if I was done again, and then he let me go," Wilson said.
He said he had bruises around his neck because the teacher had both hands around his neck. Wilson said if he did hit the teacher, it was an accident.
Wilson's father, Tommy Wilson, said he wants answers because he doesn’t think there's ever an excuse for a teacher to do what was seen on the video.
He said he called the school district, police and even a lawyer.
"You think your kids are safe at school. You worry about the other students. You don't worry about the teachers. The teachers are there to protect them," Tommy Wilson said. "To be perfectly honest with you, I'd like to do the same thing to the teacher, to show him what it feels like for a child to be done like that. It wouldn't be right for me to do it either. What he done is just not justified. There is no justification for it."
Clyde Wilson said he never had a problem with the teacher in the past. His parents have kept him out of school all week because of the incident.
The accused teacher is under investigation.
